Our global team is distributed across the United States, South Africa, and India — with a collective experience of over 100 years in cloud technology, successfully completing $2 billion+ in cloud and security transformation projects for over 150 clients worldwide. Our leaders have held pivotal roles in global giants like Accenture, Capgemini, and Deloitte, as well as in innovative startups.
Prior to founding HTCD, Shaan was a Managing Director at Accenture and led Cloud/AWS Security globally, where he grew their practice from its early stages to nearly a billion dollars annually, while serving ~150 clients over 4 years.
Shaan has an extensive background in security, and co-founded the security and blockchain practices at Aricent (now part of Capgemini Engineering), focusing on Product Security, Vulnerability Management, and IoT Security. He has been also part of Accenture Labs, the Dept. of Defense Cybercrime Center (DC3), and Lockheed Martin.
Shaan is a recognized expert on cyber-forensic analysis, threat intelligence/sharing platforms, malware research, IoT security, and full stack software development. He has 11+ patents to his name, frequently presents at forums such as BlackHat, GISEC, Web Summit or universities like Johns Hopkins. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, and holds a Masters in Cyber Forensics from Penn State.

At HTCD, our journey started in early 2023 with a simple observation: most of the cost and complexity in cloud security came down to customers moving petabytes of data to and from security providers.
Cloud Service Providers including AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake and others had just started to move towards data lakes. Our ‘aha moment’ was to realize that combining data lakes with the emerging technology of Generative AI could invert data ownership in favor of the customer.
We could leverage Gen AI for its strengths—like converting English into SQL queries—and only extract relevant information from these data lakes, reducing data transfers to almost nothing! And this opened the door to providing customers with market-leading security, predictable pricing, and 100% data sovereignty.
We knew that with our founding team’s experience, having completing cloud transformations for 150+ Fortune 500 clients, we already had the insights we needed to build the last mile engineering solution to extract value from LLMs in cloud security.
The timing and solution were so compelling that we were able to capitalize, recruit a global team and launch Human Trusted Cyber Defense (HTCD) in June 2023.
